2017 NASA EPSCoR Pre-proposal Competition
We have been informed that NASA is planning to release a new NASA EPSCoR Cooperative Agreement Notice (CAN) during the month of December, like in previous years. Anticipating the release of this CAN, and in order to allow sufficient time for the research teams to prepare their pre-proposals, PR NASA EPSCoR is conducting a pre-proposal competition.
Interested research teams are invited to submit their pre-proposals to the PR NASA EPSCoR office. The pre-proposals will be judged by a review panel to determine the best candidate projects to be developed into full-fledged proposals for the 2017 NASA EPSCoR competition, in which each EPSCoR jurisdiction will be allowed to submit TWO proposals.
The pre-proposals must contain the following information:
1. Cover Page (one page)
a. Project Title
b. Research PI: name, affiliation, contact information
c. Co-investigators: names and affiliations
d. Collaborating NASA Center(s) and point(s) of contact
2. Project Summary (1-2 pages)
3. Goals, Objectives, and Anticipated Results (2-3 pages)
4. Relevance to, Partnerships with, and Interactions with NASA (1-2 pages)
5. Relevance to, Partnerships with, and Interactions within the Jurisdiction (1-2 pages)
6. Curriculum Vitae of PI and Co-Is (two pages per person)
7. Current and Pending Support (as needed)
The previous NASA EPSCoR CAN provided up to $750,000 from NASA, and required an additional 50% of institutional match ($375,000). For now, you can assume that these budget figures will remain unchanged, until the actual CAN is released.
The pre-proposals must be aligned with the specific objectives of NASA EPSCoR, which are listed below:
- Contribute to and promote the development of research capability in NASA EPSCoR jurisdictions in areas of strategic importance to the NASA mission;
- Improve the capabilities of the NASA EPSCoR jurisdictions to gain support from sources outside the NASA EPSCoR program;
- Develop partnerships among NASA research assets, academic institutions, and industry;
- Contribute to the overall research infrastructure, science and technology capabilities, higher education, and economic development of the jurisdiction; and
- Work in close coordination with the Space Grant consortium in the jurisdiction to improve the environment for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.
