Significant disparities in cancer incidence and outcomes exist among ethnic minority populations. Through a U54 grant awarded by the National Cancer Institute's Minority Institute/Cancer Center Program, the University of Puerto Rico and MD Anderson seek to address and, ultimately, eliminate cancer disparities through the development of clinical, research, outreach and educational activities that benefit both institutions.

Through interinstitutional collaborations, the Partnership hopes to improve the competitiveness of clinicians and researchers from both institutions to apply for grants with an emphasis on reducing cancer disparities among ethnic populations.
