Welcome Reception (Sunday, May 20)

Conference attendees and companions are invited to attend the Welcome Reception. Registration fee includes ONE Welcome Reception admission. Companion tickets may be purchased during registration for $25.00 per person.

Conference Banquet (Wednesday, May 23)

Conference attendees and companions are encouraged to attend the Conference Banquet. Tickets for this event are required and may be purchased during registration.  Admission to the Banquet is not included in conference registration.  Advanced purchase is recommended -- on site tickets will be subject to availability

Tickets are $60.

Arecibo Observatory Tour (optional) (Sunday, May 20 – 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)

The Arecibo Observatory is part of the National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center (NAIC), a national research center operated by Cornell University under a cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation (NSF). The NSF is an independent federal agency whose aim is to promote scientific and engineering progress in the United States. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) provide additional support. As the site of the world's largest single-dish radio telescope, the Observatory is recognized as one of the most important national centers for research in radio astronomy, planetary radar and terrestrial aeronomy. Use of the Arecibo Observatory is available on an equal, competitive basis to all scientists from throughout the world. Observing time is granted on the basis of the most promising research as ascertained by a panel of independent referees who review the proposals sent to the Observatory by interested scientists.

$150 per person Tour Fee includes:

  • entrance fee
  • bus transportation with local guide (4 hours roundtrip)
  • boxed lunch
  • guided tour

Ticket purchase was required by Thursday, May 3. There will not be any tickets sold on-site.

Cancellation Policy

To cancel all or any portion of your meeting registration order, you must notify MRS in writing of your request for a refund. The timing of your request is important in determining refund amounts. Refunds will be made upon receipt of written refund request within the following guidelines:

  • Registration (regular conference registration, student conference registration or companion registration) refund requests received up to 10 days prior to the start of the meeting:
    Refund amount requested less a $35 processing fee.
  • Refund request received less than 10 days prior to or until the conclusion of the meeting:
    Due to the guarantees required for meals and other services regular and student registrants will receive refund amount requested less $525. Companion registrations are not refundable.
  • Refund request received 1 to 29 days following the conclusion of the meeting:
    No refunds provided. During this time period, registrants may apply a portion of the non-refundable registration fee to MRS member dues or additional MRS product or service.

Refund request received more than 30 days after the conclusion of the meeting:
No refunds will be provided for requests made more than 30 days after the close of the meeting.
